Daniel C DeMiglio
Founder - 3rd Generation Grandson of Callahan’s
As a proud third-generation member of a storied family legacy, I founded 1950 Originals to honor the extraordinary path paved by my grandfather, Leonard "Artie" Castrianni Sr., my Uncle Rick and Aunt Terri Castrianni, and my parents, Ron and Linda DeMiglio. Each of them played a pivotal role in shaping my values, work ethic, and entrepreneurial vision. This venture is not just a business—it’s a living tribute to the people and the traditions that defined my family.
From the age of 15, I’ve worked in the food industry, gaining hands-on experience in both ownership and management. That early immersion instilled in me a deep respect for hospitality, consistency, and community—values I carry with me to this day. Though the Callahan’s name may no longer hang on a sign, it runs through my blood and in the storefronts. It’s a constant reminder of why I continue to pursue this dream with purpose and pride no matter how difficult that journey has been.
In 1949, my grandfather co-owned Hiram’s in Fort Lee. Just one year later, in 1950, he sold his stake to pursue his own version of the American Dream—opening Callahan’s next door on Palisades Avenue. 1950 Originals now stands on those very same historic principals, drawing direct inspiration from both legacy businesses. The name pays homage to that defining year, while the white brick exterior mirrors the façade of Callahan’s, a beloved local icon. The word “Originals” is a dual tribute—borrowed from the Hiram’s sign and from the classic order regulars would make when they walked into Callahan’s: “I’ll have an Original.” Every detail of this brand, down to the dog tags I wear daily around my neck, reflects my commitment to preserving and advancing the spirit my grandfather instilled in our family.
In parallel with my journey in hospitality, I’ve spent 19 seasons working at the NBA, where I’ve built a career grounded in professionalism, leadership, and relationship-building. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with some of the best athletes in the world.
I have developed a deep expertise in marketing, graphic design and audience engagement. Since 2019, my content and campaigns have reached over 21 million individuals every 90 days and generated more than 800 million unique social media impressions. From viral memes that spark joy to strategic branding that drives measurable growth, I’ve built platforms that resonate on a global scale.
I bring the same energy, creativity, and discipline to 1950 Originals. This venture is more than a restaurant—it’s a continuation of a legacy built on passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. Whether in sports, business, or hospitality, my mission remains the same: to lead with integrity, honor the past, and create meaningful impact across every venture I touch.
