Every month at 1950 Originals, our Executive Chef and Co-Founder Daniel Fabian crafts new specials inspired by everything from seasonal produce to childhood memories, global cultures, and even color palettes. This July, it’s all about summer Caribbean vibes — big flavor, bold ingredients, and the kind of food that makes you feel like you’re sitting beach side with the sun on your face and a drink in your hand.

We know not everyone can escape to an island paradise this summer, so we’re bringing those flavors to you — right here in New Jersey. This month’s specials celebrate the rich culinary traditions of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and beyond, with layers of spice, sweetness, acidity, and soul.
🐖 Caribbean Pulled Pork Sandwich
Sure, you’ll find pulled pork sandwiches everywhere in the summer — but not like this.
This one’s stacked with:
Pernil – Puerto Rican-style roasted pork inspired by Chef Dan’s grandmother’s recipe
Queso Frito – Dominican-style fried white cheese
Cuban Mojo Criollo – a tangy sour orange marinade
Escovitch Onions – spicy pickled onions with a Jamaican twist
Guava BBQ Sauce – a sweet-and-smoky island flavor bomb
All served on a toasted potato roll
This sandwich is a Caribbean flavor explosion — comforting, vibrant, and made to stand out.
🍟 Picadillo Tallow Fries
Inspired by the comforting stews of Puerto Rican and Cuban kitchens, this dish is a loaded take on picadillo — a ground beef, olive, and potato mixture cooked in tomato sauce and Latin spices.
Here’s how we flipped it:
Our signature crispy tallow fries as the base
Topped with house-made picadillo
Finished with garlic cilantro sauce and spicy pickled onions
